Zack's Birth Story

I just realized that I never posted Zack's birth story, so here is the quick version lol

Mark and I went into the hospital at 5:30 to get gel put in. We were told we would stay for 1.5 hours then come home, and be back the next morning at 7. About 10 minutes after the gel was in I started having regular contractions. I was almost a 3 before the gel.

1.5 hours later I was still contracting and they were getting closer together and more painful. I was checked and was a 3 for sure, if not a tad more she said. She had us walk the halls to see if I was going to dilate anymore. We did that until 9pm, got checked again and was the same. We were given the option to go home or stay, but not be admitted for labor, just for monitoring.

I wanted to go home and labor at home so we did. I was up all night with contractions and got a total of 2 hours sleep. Got up for good at 6am, Mark called the hospital and they said come in at 7:30.

Came in was checked and was a 4. I was so disappointed, after an entire night of contractions that nothing had happened. My doc came in to break my water, but baby was way too high. So he put me on pitocin. I got that started at 8:30 and was doing fine with the contractions until 11:30. Zachary kicked me so hard that my water broke, thats when the real fun contractions came.

My doc came in again and said it should not be long now until delivery. I labored for about 40 minutes and the contractions were too strong so I asked for an epidural. Got that and it did not work. I could still walk, feel my legs and the entire contraction.

I got to around 3pm when I said I needed to push, I was checked and was only a 7-8 so of course they said no. At this point my doctor decided to turn off the epidural since it was not working and was just being wasted. 3:30 came and I again said I needed to push, was checked and was a 9 and doc said go again and try to push, you might able to push past it. Zack was still really high up, but I pushed anyway for another 30 minutes. Cervix still would not go away so doc told me to rest. Well, I couldn't. He left the room, so it was just the nurse, Mark and myself. I got on my side, then on my hand and knees, then my side again and pushed with everything I had. After about 40 minutes of this, I was exhausted and crying from frustration that I could not move this baby down. I was angry and mad. I did about 3-4 more pushes on my side and felt burning, told my nurse, she had me flip on my back and there was his head. She freaked out and called a code red to get my doc and more nurses in the room.

I could not stop pushing, the contractions were one on top of the other and the pain was intense! She was yelling at me to pant and I tried, but when you have to push you have to push. My doc made it in just in time and after a few more pushes out he came!

He peed 3 times and pooped before they weighed him.

Zack was 10 pounds 13oz and 22 inches long.

5 hours!

I got 5 hours of straight sleep last night! Zack was good to his mama! He slept from midnight to 5am. I could not belive the clock when we finally woke up, I had to look at Mark's to make sure I was not dreaming or seeing things lol

So we are up early this morning, which is good. It's my first day on my own with 3 kids. I have had help for the past 3 weeks and now today, I am alone. I am feeling great about it. Not much will be different, just a little more of a mad dash to get Wyatt out the door and off to school. Since I have 3 kids to get ready instead of two. And it's cold, so it's jackets, hat, mittens for everyone.

We had a great weekend, full of lounging and lots of family time.

Saturday was a stay at home day, it was warm out, so Mark took the kids out to play, I cleaned and tried to get the house back to normal. There was still stuff out from the hospital and all and finally I decided it was time to get our house back.

Sunday it was cold and rainy, so Wyatt and I went and did some shopping while the 2 little ones napped. Wyatt got a haircut and thought it was so cool to get gel in his hair. The lady thought he was so cute that she gave him some trial size gel packs, so he said that when he goes back to school I need to put gel in his hair so that all the other kids will think he is cool.

LOL! The mind of a 5 year old, excited about hair gel!

We are working with Lucy on her diva attitude. Lately she has become more demanding and whiney, and well, that just won't stand in this house anymore. So it was a long weekend of telling her to use her big girl voice and words and to stop telling us what to do, that she is not the parent. I think it has gotten better, but we still have a ways to go. We don't want her going to pre-school with an attitude.

Oh and it's Mark and I's anniversary today. We have been married 7 years! It seems like yesterday that I was walking down that aisle to marry him, and here we are 7 years and 4 kids later. It's been a blast and I can't wait to grow old with him. Love ya honey! ;)

Zack is 3 weeks old today. I can't belive how fast time has flown by! I am so glad he is here. :)

Sorry about the delay in posting, my mom has been here this week and we have been busy hanging out and such.

Life here is going great here. We have settled into a good routine with Zack and he just fits in perfectly!

He is only getting up once a night so my sleep and sanity are in good spirits. He is such an easy baby, only cries when cold, which is not often. He is not fussy, he doesn't spit up, he sleeps great and just goes with the flow of this noisy household.

Wyatt and Lucy are still in love with him, they hold him daily and we have even started to let Wyatt feed him as long as one of us are in the same room as him.

Here are some new recent pictures of the kids. Click on each picture to see them bigger.

Newborn Checkup

Zack had his newborn check up yesterday and it went great!

He is as healthy as can be and doctor is very happy with his weight gain and such.

Born: 10 pounds 13 oz
Leaving hospital weight: 10 pounds 4 oz
Newborn checkup: 10 pounds 11 oz

He is now 22 3/4 inches long, which means he has gained 3/4 of an inch in 9 days!

Today Zack is having his circ done, poor guy! I had Mark take him in so I could stay with Wy and Lucy, plus I just can't watch my little guy in that much pain.

Here are some pics of Lucy and Zack bonding:

All is going well and everyone is adjusting well. Mark and I are amazed at how easy it is this time around!

Fall Fun!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Minnesota! It was 78, warm and breezy. Mark took the kids out to play in the leaves and after watching awhile from inside, I decided it was time to take Zack outside to get some fresh air.

We decided to take some pics too, Lucy was not in the best of moods, but we got a few great ones. Hope you enjoy! Remember you can click on the picture and it will make it larger as well.

Happy 3rd Birthday Lucy!!

Today is Lucy's 3rd birthday! It's seems like it was yesterday we were in labor, then she was here, all warm and soft with lots of hair. It's been a fun challenge raising a girl, I thought at one point I only wanted to be a all boys mama, but having her in our lives is the best!

So she wakes up today and I sing her happy birthday, she gets the shy look on her face, even for me and quietly says thank you. I ask her what she wants to do today, and her simple answer: polish on my toes. What a girly girl! So we just got done doing this:

Here is a trip back memory lane with Miss Lucy!

What a way to spend the day!

Here is what the diva is doing this morning:

She thinks she is hot stuff getting to use my scrap booking scissors to cut paper, while sitting in her undies watching Jurassic Park. Yep, Jurassic Park. She think the dinosaurs are funny, not scary. Want proof? Here is a picture of her laughing while the T-rex is chasing the jeep in the first movie:

I know, weird. Here I was worried the first time it was on TV thinking the kids were going to have nightmares for weeks, and nope, they both love the movie.

It must be great being an almost 3 year old diva!!
